Musical Spearman’s Rank

Thought I’d blog about the lesson I use to teach Spearman’s Rank after a bit of interest on Twitter.  I’m about to use this lesson with top set Y11 who are studying for GCSE Higher Statistics.  The basis of the lesson is to see how well pupil’s musical taste is correlated with the Great British Public’s taste and this is how it goes…

I love using Johnny Griffith’s Rich Starting Points with A-Level groups; they are self differentiating by outcome and any KS5 student can get something out of getting their teeth into them.

Standard Form and the Planets

I’ve put together an idea for a project to use with 9A focusing on the solar system. We’ve recently covered Standard Form and I wanted pupils to have the opportunity to work as a team on a project which would give them the opportunity to pull together lots of different Maths skills.
